Is Angie Henzman putting political activism ahead of LaPorte County?

Henzman organized the February 17, 2025 “Not My President’s Day” protest in Michigan City and spoke about what she described as attacks on voters’ rights.

Political activism / County priorities

What comes first: the political message or local results?

Her own posts call for ICE to be abolished, and her Chicago rally photo posts are dated September 6, 2025. Voters can ask how that message and her out-of-state activity advance the priorities of LaPorte County residents.

What local work should voters compare with these rallies? What measurable county results can she point to? Those are questions she can answer with her record, not just another protest slogan.

The Chicago posts came after her May 2024 resignation as party chair. The photos and videos do not establish her total hours protesting or a work-versus-protest time comparison. Published reporting also documents local organizing in Michigan City and participation in LaPorte.

Read the background and analysisThe context behind these posts+

Henzman organized the February 17, 2025 “Not My President’s Day” protest in Michigan City and spoke about what she described as attacks on voters’ rights. She later posted a call to join the October 18 LaPorte No Kings event, wrote “ICE must be abolished now!” in a January 10 Facebook caption with no visible year, and shared NWI Resistance’s March 28 post claiming 350 attendees in LaPorte and about 1,700 in Michigan City. In February 2026, she joined a student-led anti-ICE walkout during her lunch break and told the South Bend Tribune, “We wanted to support them. They need to be able to have their right to speak up.”

Her Chicago rally posts and calls to abolish ICE raise a local-priorities question: what results does this activism deliver for LaPorte County residents? Read her posts, watch the videos, and compare her earlier party-chair record.

Organizing in Michigan City and joining a student walkout

The Herald-Dispatch identified Henzman as the organizer of the February 17, 2025 “Not My President’s Day” protest in Michigan City. It reported that she spoke about what she described as attacks on voters’ rights. On February 9, 2026, the South Bend Tribune reported that Henzman joined a student-led anti-ICE walkout during her lunch break. She said, “We wanted to support them. They need to be able to have their right to speak up.”

Henzman’s Facebook posts and NWI Resistance share

On October 13, 2025, Henzman posted, “LaPorte County let’s go! Share and invite your friends. We need everyone!” to promote the October 18 No Kings event at the LaPorte County Courthouse. In a January 10 Facebook caption with no visible year, she wrote, “ICE must be abolished now!”

Henzman also shared an NWI Resistance post dated Mar. 28, with no year visible. NWI Resistance said 350 attended in LaPorte, about 1,700 in Michigan City, and “2000 strong voices for Democracy!!!” The figures are the account’s organizer estimates.

Undated protest photograph

A separate original protest photograph has no visible post header, date, or location. Its background placards mention immigrant rights, Palestine and U.S. aid, police crimes, LGBTQIA+ and reproductive rights, workers’ rights, organizing and strikes, and education. The image does not identify Henzman or show who wrote the signs.

2018 NWI Resistance protest and Chicago DSA attendance

Midwest Socialist reported that NWI Resistance organized a July 6, 2018 protest in Gary and that roughly 40 Chicago DSA members attended. The report does not name Henzman or connect her to that event.

An earlier August 24 set of protest placards

Three other photos in the upload carry Henzman’s August 24, 2025 post date. They show placards by a roadside and parked vehicle, including “NO KINGS FOLLOW DUE PROCESS AND RULE OF LAW,” “WE THE PEOPLE DO NOT CONSENT!” and “STOP FASCISM NOW.” They appear as a separate collection rather than part of the September 6 Chicago rally.

Additional context

NWI Resistance’s attendance figures are organizer estimates.

The standalone protest photograph is undated and does not identify Henzman.
